Such a Succulent and tasty meat you will be amazed how tender and delicious West Country water buffalo meat is. Lower in fat than traditional beef and rich in Iron and vital Minerals. You’ll be surprised to know Buffalo meat has less fat and calories than other meats you may eat on a regular basis , such as chicken and even some fish.
Buffalo is a much leaner alternative to standard beef. It is lower in cholesterol and fat, a much healthier red meat option packed with protein.
West Country Water Buffalo Beef is hung for 3 weeks before our traditional butcher produces the desired cuts. This can be bought in the following forms

WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?
JOINT CUTS
TOPSIDE/TOP RUMP - This Joint has a fine grain and is ideal if you like your joint “pink” in the middle.
SILVERSIDE - This Joint has a coarser grain but great flavour and can be roasted , pot roasted or in a slow cooker. Cook at a slightly lower temperature.
BREAD & BUTTER - An old fashioned cut next to the fore rib and is ideal for pot roasting or in a slow cooker as its flavour really enhances and benefits from the slow cooking.
BUFFALO TAIL - Wonderful for stews or the classic soup , requires long slow cooking.
STEAKS
FILLET STEAK - This is the most tender and luxurious of all the steak cuts
SIRLOIN STEAK - A fine grained succulent steak
RIB EYE STEAK - A steak with more noticeable marbling
RUMP STEAK - A coarser grain but with excellent flavour
OTHER MEATS
BRAISING STEAK - Ideal for Pies , Casseroles and in a slow cooker for real comfort food.
SHIN - A traditional cut which requires very long and slow cooking to break down and tenderise the meat , releasing fantastic flavours.
FAGGOTS - These are a very tasty local traditional dish , made using the offal. Our traditional faggots are handmade to a secret recipe that is lightly seasoned and delicious.
BURGERS - Handmade and delicious these burgers are one of our best sellers. We offer a variety of flavours including a gluten free version.
SAUSAGES - Perfect for toad in the hole, sausage and mash , casseroles , with bacon and our free range eggs for breakfast or even a fantastic sandwich. We offer a great selection of flavours from Plain to Horseradish , Leek to Chilli. We also have available a gluten free flavour.
MINCE STEAK - Delicious for a twist on spaghetti bolognese , Chilli Con Carni or in a Pie

We have a great selection of cured Buffalo meats available in the shop, all produced for us by ‘The Salt Pig Curing Company’
